Modern Magic: San Waterdeep
Weapons have changed a lot in San Waterdeep. From old iron, wood, and steel weapons, we now have highly sophisticated and powerful firearms, explosives, and melee weapons created from incredibly tough metals.
Weapons in the Modern Magic world of San Waterdeep have some new properties. These are those properties and what they mean.
Ammunition. The ammunition of a firearm is destroyed upon use. Modern weapons use bullets, but some more advanced weapons use energy cells, which contain enough power for all the shots the firearm can make.
Burst Fire. A weapon that has the burst fire property can make a normal single-target attack, or it can spray a 10-foot-cube area within normal range with shots. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take the weapon’s normal damage. This action uses 10 pieces of ammunition.
Reload. A limited number of shots can be made with a weapon that has the reload property. A character must then reload it use an action or a bonus action (the character’s choice).
Conceilable. Smaller or more compact than normal guns these can more easily pass notice. Any person making a check against you has disadvantage against finding this gun on you.
Sidearm. Sidearms represent either a smaller, or secondary, weapon used by players. Some characters may only have proficiency in sidearms, while some gain proficiency in all weapons.
Primary. Primary weapons are larger and more powerful, but require the proficiency to use them properly. Other characters may attempt to use them but do not have the ability to add proficiency bonuses to the attack roll.
Restricted. Some weapons, despite the black markets and underground trading are simply not easy to come by and as such these will seldom be available for purchase through any standard or black market shop.
